Go Geebung

Our second heat kicked off at Geebung RSL with a very talented range of acts. New performers and some familiar favourites provided a great afternoon of entertainment. The series also had it’s first tie for the year.
Barbara Tyrrell is a Senior Superstar stalwart having been placed previously in the series including 3rd in 2009 and second last year. She showed why she has been so successful when she presented her version of the Patsy Cline classic “Crazy”.
Whether is was his birthday spirit that gave him the competitive edge is anyone’s guess but in front of a supportive family, Jim Hodgson of Zillmere took to the stage securing him a place in the semi final singing Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody”.
Performing at his home club, Jim Ryan, who is also a board member of Geebung-Zillmere RSL, was a runaway winner and was also awarded People’s Choice. His captivating version of the Elvis hit “You Gave Me a Mountain” had the crowd rapt and wanting more. It would seem all those years singing in the cab of his truck and now finally realising his true vocal talents have paid off.
Everybody’s favourite Brisbane Whistler, Richard Wade whistled his way trough to the semis accompanied by Mary on piano and backed by the crowd singing along to his Irish medley of songs.
We’ll be seeing all these acts return to the Semi Final at Broncos Leagues Club on Sunday 7 August at 1.30pm.
