After six heats and two semi-finals the City Hall welcomed over 1200 people to see who would become the 2009 Senior Superstar.

12 acts from across Brisbane presented an extraordinary afternoon of entertainment.

Guest judges Simon Gallaher and Rachael Beck were amazed at the standard and talent. As were regular judges Judy Glen and Paul Dellit. This made their job even harder.
In third place was Barbara Tyrrell who sung the Irving Berlin classic “How Deep Is the Ocean”.
Second place went to first time entrant Michael Burke. Michael’s version of “Unchained Melody” had everyone breathless.

The winner of Senior Superstar 2009 is no stranger to the series. Darcy Turgeon from Deagon had the audience screaming for more. Darcy entered last year and made it through to the final coming in 3rd place with his performance of the Gender bender Boy George’s song Karma Chameleon” complete with heels, hosiery and make-up.
This year Darcy sung the Manhattan Transfer song “Operator” in a holier than thou gospel robe and dreadlocks. He then transformed into mid song into a wayward Billy Idol look- a-like, which brought the house down.
Darcy will be travelling to Cairns Queenslander class on the Sunlander courtesy of Traveltrain. He also won 2 Emerald tickets to see Liza Minnelli at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Everyone at Senior Superstar congratulates Darcy and all the contestant that entered this years series. They have all proved that talent has no age limit.
